Chic Geek, Confidence and The Importance of Values with Kylie Woods

I’m gonna preface this post by saying… today is my birthday. Do you know what the BEST gift you could give me is? If you’re enjoying the podcast, share an episode on social with your friends AND/OR go on iTunes and leave a rating/review. It makes all the difference in the world to me, and you’ll kick start my birthday with a bang 🙂

This week on the podcast I’m joined by the head Chic Geek herself, Kylie Woods. Introduced to me via Lourdes Juan (check out her podcast interview here), Kylie is one of those people who is creating the life she wants to live. She sees a need and she fills it. It’s why, when the only woman in a room at tech gatherings, she started Chic Geek, a non-profit to encourage women in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).

Now, as someone that works in non-profit, I know that a startup non-profit salary can be challenging, so to fill this gap, maintain a flexible schedule, and to keep her creative juices flowing, Kylie started Fresh and Nimble, a Squarespace website consulting firm.

As if that’s not enough, she’s incredibly eloquent, has developed strong personal, work and relationship values, and puts herself out here into challenging situations – she takes the leap. Basically… she’s a real life superhero and I want to go as Kylie for Halloween because I admire her greatly.

Oh… and her apartment is super chic and Pinterest-y, which makes me love her even more.

Listen on iTunes or Google Play.

In this interview, Kylie and I talk about what inspired her to launch both Chic Geek and Fresh & Nimble, what her personal values are, how she was supported in STEM growing up, and how she’s actively grown her confidence over time. We also talk about what skills she’s learned as the founder of two organizations, the importance of culture, and so much more. I highly recommend you check out Chic Geek’s site for upcoming events in the Calgary area.
