Truth be told, I first heard about Jane Porter when I was registering for very first attendance at the Surrey International Writers’ Conference. As part of the attendee package, you get what’s called a Blue Pencil session with a published author or an editor. You ideally want to sign up with someone that writes or edits in your genre so that you’re getting the most helpful feedback, and with Jane writing in both romance and women’s fiction, I knew she was a fit.
Little did I realize when I signed up that I was actually getting access to one of the most prolific writers! At the time of recording this podcast episode, Jane is on her 59th book. FIFTY. NINE. For those of you that dream of writing one book… you can see how Jane has made a career from writing. Not only has she written both romance and women’s fiction, but one of her novels, Flirting With Forty, was turned into a Lifetime Movie with Heather Locklear.
Eager to try her hand at the other side of writing, Jane founded Tule Publishing in 2013. At the time they brought on a few writers to launch their digital works, and now they work with over 90 authors and have published over 450 works of fiction.
My favourite thing about Jane is her tenacity. In this interview we talk about what it took for her to get published, how she refused to give up, how creatives have to push through challenging periods in their lives and so much more.
Jane’s Most recent book: Take A Chance On Me
Big thank you to Jane for joining us on the podcast!
