Happy New Year!
2016, hey? I have to say, I am pretty excited to ring in a new year. 2015 had its moments, but it was bookended positively: it started with the birth of my gorgeous niece and ended with the birth of our first baby.
I started thinking back in early December about what my 2016 resolution would be. I know, I know, some people think that making resolutions is silly or a waste of time. Well, this year I’ve landed on something that I can both live with and which I believe will have a big impact on my life.
Instead of a specific goal, my aim is to try and live 2016 by one mantra, courtesy of the incredible Shonda Rhimes.
I want 2016 to be the year of doing. I want to stop talking about what I want to do… and maybe instead only talk about it once it’s been done. Dreaming has its place, but the doing of it is much more important, in my and Shonda Rhimes’ opinion.
Here’s the thing, whether I’m focused on weight loss, writing, getting stuff done around the house, parenting, my relationships, or my job… the doing is the thing that will propel me forward. Right? I can have all these pretty dreams, spend all this time thinking about how it would work, who I could be, or I could just do it.

Inspiring! Happy New Year!
You are already a doer my dear! And anninsoruatiin to many others including myself. I really like the mantra and having a mantra and focus is indeed helpful. I’m already anticipating hearing about your reflections on this one. Here’s to 2016!
I am SOMETIMES a doer. I have momentous amounts of downtime, which I know needs to be slightly reprioritized now that we have our little one in tow. He’s pretty draining, but all of us a sudden our to-do list is a mile long! That said, can’t wait to settle into our new home 🙂 It’s always going to be a special place, thanks to you!
