Affecting Change Through Policy and Activism with Shifrah Gadamsetti

Today on the podcast I’m joined by Shifrah Gadamsetti, but she also goes by Shif for short. I first discovered Shifrah on Instagram as she was working away on a federal political campaign. I was blown away by her ability to champion a cause without getting rant-y for lack of a better word, her sharing of how we can be better activists for important causes and much more.

Shifrah Gadamsetti

A recipient of the Mount Royal University Outstanding Future Alumni award, Shifrah spoke about having lived a lot of life in a short period of time and it’s true. Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at a young age, Shifrah then went into the MRU nursing program at just 16. After graduating she realized that she hadn’t quite had her fill for education and wanted to pursue sociology and better understand policy work. That second degree at MRU saw her getting involved in multiple volunteer organizations and the passion for standing up for what she believed in grew.

We also talk about her complicated health history and the decision and 10 year journey to having her fallopian tubes removed. It’s a fascinating conversation and I commend Shifrah for her vulnerability.
