This week on the podcast we’re joined by art teacher, activist, doula and many other things… Julia Mooney! I found out about Julia’s One Outfit One Hundred Days project on Instagram.
Julia chose to wear the same outfit for one hundred days to make a statement about our culture of excess, but she had some surprising outcomes to the project. My big surprise? That many of her colleagues didn’t notice for a while! Goes to show that we think people are judging us far more than they actually are.
Julia made national headlines with this campaign, and now that it is completed we talk about what’s next and what lessons she’ll take forward.
We also talk about her role as an art teacher, the importance of art both in schools and in our busy lives, and about her fascinating role as a doula. Julia is there for the most monumental moment in women’s lives – the birth of their children. We talk about how she supports parents through this experience, and what her training and experience in Africa has taught her about resiliency.
