Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is not for the faint of heart – as Christa Singleton proves, it’s for the fearless.
I think I was scrolling through @womenwhohike on Instagram one day when they featured a group of plus size women who were training to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. They called themselves the Curvy Kili Crew. I started diving into their individual stories that captured the training process and why they were on this incredible journey, and I learned about the group’s creator – Christa.

In this episode, Christa goes WAY back and talks about her first blog – Fearlessly Infertile. She documented her journey with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and shared her experiences becoming a mother, right up to the process of adopting her daughter.
As it turns out, travel was a big part of Christa’s recovery after various challenges in her fertility treatments, which is where Travel Fearlessly was born.
We talk about how she processed her losses, how she kept focused, the incredible story of her adoption, and why plus size travel is so important.
Heads up, while the Curvy Kili Crew just recently finished their climb of Mount Kilimanjaro, WHOA Travel (the tour company that helped Christa create the trip) are running another experience for plus size women to travel to Machu Picchu. They leave in July, so if you’re interested, check it out.
