The Ladies Behind 100 Women Who Care Calgary

Today I am so pleased to be joined by not one, but two fabulous women. Christy McMurray and Alison Lapczuk are the co-founders of the Calgary chapter of 100 Women Who Care.

100 women calgary

As a 100 Women Who Care member, that’s how I came to meet them, and I continue to be blown away by the impact that’s been created thanks to two women coming together and making it happen.

With over a quarter of a million dollars raised for the Calgary community to date, I was curious about how they came to found the chapter, their professional lives, experience as parents, and their philosophy on giving back.

We talked about modelling behaviour for your kids, both in terms of volunteerism, community and self-care. We discussed what it takes to start your own chapter of 100 Women Who Care, overcoming your fear of public speaking, and finding partners whose skills complement your own.

Or listen on iTunes.

We also discuss Christy’s career in fundraising, Alison’s career as a photographer, and I highly recommend you check out Alison’s photos on her website and her Instagram account.

Books That Alison and Christy Love

I hope you took the kind of inspiration from these ladies that I did. They reminded me to focus on what’s important, that small gestures matter, that little things can have big impact, and to set my own standards.

They reminded me that if I see an issue, a problem, a gap… that I can be the one to solve it.
