Good morning folks! Well… it’s morning where I am.
I am so glad you’re still with me on Day 4, and today I hope to get you fired up, courtesy of Ms. Shonda Rhimes getting me fired up. If you know me, you know I’m a Grey’s, Scandal and HTGAWM fan, so the words of THE Shonda are always epic. Her Dartmouth Commencement Speech was no different, and six little words of hers have changed my mindset.
Be a doer, not a dreamer.
1. Get real about how you spend your time
Download a calendar template with 15 minute increments here and start to track how you’re spending your time, but be honest. No judgment.
2. Next, highlight the time slots that aren’t in alignment with your values or goals.
3. Finally, I want you to pick 3 out of 7 days this week where you’ll replace that unaligned time with time that you’re working on your chosen goal.
That’s less than 50%, and totally achievable. Remember, today that could only be 10 minutes, but tomorrow might be 30. The amount of time doesn’t matter, it’s that you replace ‘free’ or wasted time with time that you’re spending on your goals.
4. And… share what you’re up to on social.
Tag me @girltrieslife and/or share with the wider Girl Tries Life community using the hashtag #girltrieslife21 so we can all cheer each other on.
I highly recommend you listen to the whole thing, but if you’re short on time, scroll forward to 7:50 for the doer not a dreamer portion.
I look forward to catching up with you tomorrow, when we’ll talk about creativity.
As always, if you can leave a review on iTunes or if you’d like to subscribe to the podcast, I would greatly appreciate it.
