I was so pleased to be introduced to Esmahan Razavi through a previous podcast guest, Lourdes Juan. For quite some time now I’ve been wanting to dive into how different life is for women embarking into politics. Esmahan recently ran for city council in Calgary, Alberta, and while she didn’t get elected, she learned A LOT along the way.
She had also previously founded Ask Her, an organization on a mission to get more women into politics. We talk about her experience as an organizer for the 2017 and 2018 Women’s Marches in Calgary, and the difference between the two given that we’re not in the United States. We discuss what is next for Esmahan, and the role women can play as everyday activists.
